Person in custody attacks correctional officer at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre
 

     A male person in custody attacked a correctional officer at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre yesterday (December 13), causing injury to the officer.

     At about 2.30pm, the 53-year-old male person in custody refused to co-operate during admission search conducted by correctional officers. He turned emotional and banged his head against the wall. The officers stopped him immediately and gave counseling to him. All of sudden, the person in custody punched the chest of one of the officers with fist. The officers at scene applied OC foam to subdue him after repeated warnings.

     Both the officer and the assailant sustained injuries and were sent to centre hospital for treatment. The officer was later referred to public hospital for further examination.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The assailant was sentenced for the offence of criminal damage.
