Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into reception centre

Correctional officers seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from a supervisee who had been recalled for breach of a supervision order at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (January 15).

During admission search by officers at the centre at about 4.10pm, one pack of suspected dangerous drugs wrapped in plastic sheet was found in the trouser pocket of the 36-year-old male supervisee.

The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

There have been seven seizures of dangerous drugs to date this year.
