Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into institution

      Correctional Services staff of Stanley Prison (SP) seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs in a letter addressed to a person in custody today (February 5).

      At about 3.05pm, SP staff found a small quantity of crystal like suspected dangerous drugs inside a small transparent bag concealed in a greeting card during a security check on mail-in letters. The case has been reported to the Police for further investigation.

      The man was sentenced for an offence of murder.

      A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

      There have been 16 seizures of suspected dangerous drugs so far this year.
