Correctional officers stop assault by remand persons in custody

     Correctional Services officers stopped three male remand persons in custody from assaulting another male remand person in custody in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (March 17).

     At about 9.15am, a 28-year-old male remand person in custody was attacked by another three male remand persons in custody inside the bathroom. On-duty officers immediately stopped the assault and called for reinforcement.

     Upon arrival of reinforcement, the victim who sustained nose injury was sent to the centre hospital for examination and treatment. He was later transferred to a public hospital for further examination. The assailants were examined in centre hospital. They sustained no injury except one with red mark on his head.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     Among the three assailants, two aged 28 and 30 were remanded for offences of trafficking in dangerous drugs, while one aged 30, was remanded for offences of possession of dangerous drugs and criminal intimidation. The victim was remanded for an offence of trafficking in dangerous drugs.
