Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into institution

     Correctional officers at Pik Uk Prison today (March 24) seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs contained in a letter sent to a person in custody.
 
     At about 11.45am, officers found a small quantity of white powder inside a letter envelope during a security check. The white powder was suspected to be dangerous drug. The case has been reported to the Police for further investigation.

     A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

     There have been 32 seizures of suspected dangerous drugs to date this year.
