Correctional officers stop assault by remand persons in custody

     Correctional Services officers stopped two remand persons in custody from assaulting another remand person in custody in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (April 17).

     At 10.34am, a 39-year-old male remand person in custody was attacked by another two male remand persons in custody, aged 27 and 32, inside the dayroom. On-duty officers immediately stopped the assault and called for reinforcement.

     Upon arrival of reinforcement, the victim, who sustained injury to the face, was sent to the centre hospital for examination and treatment. He was later transferred to a public hospital for further treatment. The assailants were examined in the centre hospital, where they were confirmed to be uninjured.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The victim and two assailants were remanded for the offences of trafficking in dangerous drugs, manufacture of dangerous drugs and possession of dangerous drugs separately.
