Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into institution

     Correctional officers at Tai Lam Centre for Women seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from a female remand person in custody yesterday (October 29).

     At 4.45pm, the 43-year-old remand person in custody was escorted to the institution after a court hearing. Officers conducted an admission search and found some suspected dangerous drugs which were concealed inside a plastic straw with both ends sealed. The woman had been remanded for an offence of theft.

     The case has been reported to the Police.

     A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
