Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into reception centre

     Correctional officers at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (November 20) seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs concealed in a letter sent to a remand person in custody.

     At 12.05pm today, officers found a small quantity of white powder inside a letter envelope during a security check. The white powder was suspected to be dangerous drug. The case has been reported to the Police for further investigation.

     The remand person in custody was remanded for the offence of trafficking in a dangerous drug.

     A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody.
