Person under supervision assaults correctional officer on supervision duties

     A woman under supervision assaulted a female correctional officer who was performing supervision duties yesterday (February 1), causing her sustained minor injuries.

     At 8.05pm, four female officers of the Rehabilitation Unit of the Correctional Services Department were on a recall operation, escorting the 44-year-old supervisee back to Tai Lam Centre for Women. The supervisee suddenly became emotionally unstable and attacked one of the officers inside the escort vehicle.

     The officer sustained minor injuries and was sent to a public hospital for treatment.

     The case has been reported to the Police for follow-up.

     The person under supervision was sentenced to undergo drug treatment at Nei Kwu Correctional Institution in July 2013 and was released last January subject to a year's statutory supervision. She was recalled for breach of supervision conditions by relapsing into drug abuse.
