Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into correctional institution

     Correctional officers seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from the private belongings of a newly admitted 38-year-old female person in custody at Lo Wu Correctional Institution yesterday (July 2).

     At 7.38pm, while conducting a security check on the person in custody, the officers found a small plastic bag containing white crystal-like objects suspected to be dangerous drugs in her purse.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

     The person in custody was sentenced for the offence of theft.
