Sick person in custody dies in public hospital

     A sick 66-year-old male person in custody at Stanley Prison died today (August 16) after admission to a public hospital.

     The person in custody suffered from cancer and required continuous medical care and follow-up by the institutional hospital and a public hospital. On August 4, he was sent to a public hospital for treatment due to physical discomfort. During hospitalisation, his condition deteriorated and he was certified dead at 2.05am today.

     The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.

     The person in custody was sentenced for the offence of murder in 2010.
