CS officiates lighting ceremony of support offender rehabilitation TV show

A TV show, "Support Offender Rehabilitation for a Safer and More Inclusive Society", was staged today (January 2). It will be broadcast in Jade Channel of Television Broadcasts Limited on January 5 (Saturday) at 10.30 pm. In addition, a series of three two-minute programme is also scheduled for broadcast from January 2 to January 4 (Wednesday to Friday) at 11.05 pm in the same channel.

"Support Offender Rehabilitation for a Safer and More Inclusive Society" is among a series of rehabilitation-related publicity events organised by Correctional Services Department as its Rehabilitation Division is approaching its 10th anniversary in January, 2008.

By organising the event, CSD aims at promoting community acceptance of and support for rehabilitated offenders so that they can re-integrate into society as law-abiding citizens. This will help Hong Kong become a safer and more inclusive society. The event has built up the strength from various sectors of the community including the six sponsoring organisations, namely Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon; Yuen Yuen Institute; the Merchants Support for Rehabilitated Offenders Committee Limited; Yan Oi Tong Limited; the Care of Rehabilitated Offenders Association and Lions Club International District 303 – HK & Macau. With the help of Fight Crime Committee of the 18 Districts too, it is hoped that more people in the society will join in supporting rehabilitated offenders.

Picture shows the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang; Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Kwok Leung-ming and other guests officiating the lighting ceremony of the event.
