Correctional officers pay tribute to Sichuan earthquake victims

 

More than a hundred officers from the Correctional Services Department observed a three-minute silence at 2.28pm today (May 19) inside Stanley Prison to express their condolences to earthquake victims in Wenchuan, Sichuan.

Also in the ceremony were off-duty officers and new recruits from the Staff Training Institute.

All staff in penal institutions were notified to observe the three-minute silence in mourning from 2.28pm through public-address system today.

Activities and prison labour were ceased during the three-minute silence and prisoners were facilitated to participate in mourning on a voluntary basis.
