Death of LCKRC remand

A 33-year-old remand was found unconscious by correctional staff in his cell in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre (LCKRC) at 7.30am today (August 16).

First aid was immediately given by medical officer and staff at the scene. The remand was then taken to Princess Margaret Hospital and was certified dead at 8.48am.

The remand, surnamed Chen, was admitted to LCKRC on August 14 on a charge of obtaining property by deception.

The case was reported to police and his relative was informed. An inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
