LCKRC reports death of remand inmate

A 59-year-old remand inmate was found unconscious by correctional staff in the dormitory of Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre (LCKRC) at 6.40am today (September 3).

First aid was immediately given by a medical officer and staff at the scene. The remand was then taken to Princess Margaret Hospital and was certified dead at 7.36am.

The remand, surnamed Lo, was admitted to LCKRC on August 13 on a charge of trafficking in a dangerous drug.

The case was reported to police. An inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
