CSD reports death of Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre inmate

     A 45-year-old inmate of Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre (SLPC) was found presented with dyspnoea in his cell by correctional staff at 7.14am today (September 18).

     First aid was immediately given at the scene. The inmate was then sent to Tuen Mun Hospital, where he was certified dead at 8.37am.

     The case was reported to police and his family was informed. An inquest into the inmate's death will be held by the Coroner's Court.

     The inmate, surnamed Chan, was admitted to SLPC on September 10 on a charge of theft.
