Correctional staff stop dangerous drugs being smuggled into prison
    

     Officers of the Correctional Services Department at Lai King Correctional Institution found small amount of suspected dangerous drugs concealed inside the bra of a newly-admitted remand during the security check at around 3.30pm today (September 22), hence stopping an attempt to smuggle dangerous drugs into correctional institutions.

     The female, aged 19, was remanded for possession of dangerous drugs.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     A spokesperson for the Department said, "With effective mechanism to collect intelligence, the department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions and to eradicate their presence there. We are committed to maintaining a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."  

     There have been 128 seizures of dangerous drugs to date this year. Most seizures were made in reception centres.
