Suspected assault on remand inmate

     Four remand inmates were suspected to have assaulted another remand inmate in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (May 26).

      At about 8.50am, officers heard noises inside a bathroom. Upon checking, they found a 33-year-old remand inmate with head injury. After preliminary investigation, four remand inmates with age from 22 to 30 were suspected to have assaulted the victim.

      The victim who sustained minor injuries on his forehead was sent to the centre hospital for treatment and subsequently transferred to a public hospital for further examination. He was treated and returned to the Reception Centre. The four suspects sustained no injuries.

      The case was reported to the Police for further investigation.

      The four suspected assailants were on remand for offences of possession of dangerous drugs, trafficking in dangerous drugs and robbery, while the victim was on remand for offences of burglary.
