Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre inmate commits suicide

     An inmate of Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre was found hanging inside his cell at about 12.20am today (June 21).
 
      On-duty staff immediately applied first aid at the scene. The 54-year-old inmate was then taken to Tuen Mun Hospital, where he was certified dead at 1.22am.
 
      The Correctional Services Department has reported the case to the Police for investigation and the deceased's wife has been informed. An inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court in due course.
 
      The inmate was serving a life sentence at Shek Pik Prison for the offence of murder before he was transferred to Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre for assessment in March this year.
