Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into institution

     Correctional officers seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from a female recall inmate at Lai King Correctional Institution today (October 23).

     During an admission security check at about 12.40pm, the officers found a small quantity of white powder suspected to be dangerous drugs in the personal belongings of the 20-year-old female inmate.

     The case was reported to the Police for investigation.  

     A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

     The female inmate was recalled for breach of supervision order.
