In 1982, the "Prisons Department" was renamed as "Correctional Services Department" (CSD), highlighting a new development direction of placing dual emphasis on safe custody and rehabilitation. Since then, rehabilitation services and community education have gradually become two major development focuses of the Department. The year 2022 not only marks the 40th anniversary of the renaming of the Department, but also the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the Motherland. We take the opportunity to revamp the Community Education Centre to turn it into the new Community Education Experience Centre with the theme "Home‧Nation‧Corrections".

Commencing operation on 10 December 2022, the CSD Community Education Experience Centre is the Department's first experience centre providing national security education, anti-drug knowledge and information on correctional work. Through a number of interactive projection games, members of the public, especially young people, could have an amazing and unique community education experience. Visitors, acting as "Captain Rehab", will join hands with the CSD Community Education Cartoon Ambassador "Captain Gor" to advance through different challenges in the games. Apart from having an opportunity to perform correctional work, visitors could have a better understanding of the key messages of CSD's community education, namely "safeguarding our country and home, leading a law-abiding and drug-free life as well as supporting offender rehabilitation".
