Inmate attacks officer inside Lai King Correctional Institution

    

     A staff member of the Correctional Services Department was injured this morning (June 9) when she was attacked by a person in custody at Lai King Correctional Institution.

     The female person in custody, aged 21, disobeyed the staff order and became emotionally uncontrolled while she was working at the laundry section.  

     She further went forward to the staff working table, picked up and threw a record book which injured the forehead of the staff.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The injured officer was sent to outside hospital for medical treatment.

     Psychological counseling will be given to the female person in custody for her emotional problem. She was sentenced to jail for four years for trafficking in a dangerous drug last year.
