Correctional officers stop inmate from self-harm

     Correctional Services officers stopped an inmate from hurting himself in Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution today (June 20).

      At about 4.35pm, officers found the 33-year-old male inmate scratching his right hand against the edge of his bed and sustained abrasions on his wrist. Officers at scene immediately stopped him.

      The inmate was treated at the centre hospital where he was later transferred to a public hospital for examination and treatment. The clinical psychologist will follow up on the case.

      The inmate was convicted for offences of burglary and breach of condition of stay.
