Person in custody assaults officer at Lai Chi Rehabilitation Centre
 

     A male person in custody assaulted a correctional officer, causing minor injury to him at Lai Chi Rehabilitation Centre today (December 2).

     At around 2.46pm, the 17-year-old male person in custody suddenly behaved emotionally inside the common area of a dormitory.  An on-duty officer immediately came forward to stop him.  However the man refused to listen and assaulted the officer.  He was eventually subdued by officers at scene.

     The officer sustained minor injury on his neck and hand.  He was treated in the centre hospital.

     The case has been reported to the Police.

     The man was sentenced to the rehabilitation centre for an offence of criminal intimidation.
