Correctional officers stop assault by persons in custody

      Correctional Services officers stopped four persons in custody assaulting another person in custody in Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution today (January 23).

      At about 10.15am, the officers noticed that four male persons in custody, aged between 32 and 37, attacked another male person in custody, aged 56, with fists inside the workshop. The assailants were stopped immediately by the officers at scene.

      All the five persons in custody were examined in the centre hospital. The victim sustained injury on his forehead and was subsequently transferred to a public hospital for further examination while the four assailants had no injury.

      The case has been reported to the Police.

      One of the assailants was sentenced to imprisonment for an offence of burglary, while the other three for the offences of trafficking in dangerous drugs. The victim was sentenced to imprisonment for an offence of burglary.
