Correctional officers stop assault by person in custody

      Correctional Services officers stopped an assault by a remand person in custody on another remand person in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (January 31).

      At about 3.33pm, a 51-year-old male remand person in custody attacked another male remand person in custody, aged 56, with a Chinese billiard cue amidst a dispute in the dayroom. The officers at scene immediately stopped the assault and separated them.

      Both the victim and the assailant were examined and treated in the centre hospital. The victim sustained injury on the head, ear and hand and was transferred to a public hospital for further examination while the assailant sustained minor injuries on the face and knee.

      The case has been reported to the Police.

      The assailant was remanded for offence of burglary/ attempted burglary and the victim was remanded for an offence of robbery.
