Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into reception centre

      Correctional Services staff of Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre (LCKRC) seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs in the luggage of a male person in custody today (February 5).

      At about 3.20pm, LCKRC staff found two tablets of suspected dangerous drugs in the luggage of a 31-year-old person in custody during new admission search. The case has been reported to the Police for further investigation.

      The man was sentenced for an offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

      A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

      There have been 17 seizures of suspected dangerous drugs so far this year.
