Correctional officers stop assault by persons in custody

     A male person in custody assaulted another male person in custody in Hei Ling Chau Addiction Treatment Centre today (June 9).

     At about 2.20pm, a 32-year-old male person in custody suddenly splashed some diluted detergent on the face of a 28-year-old male person in custody in the workshop.

     Correctional officers at the scene immediately stopped him. After the reinforced officers arrived at the scene, the victim, who was conscious and suffered minor injuries, was sent to the centre hospital for examination. He was subsequently referred to a public hospital for further medical treatment.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     Both persons in custody were convicted for offenses of possession of dangerous drugs.
