Wanted Person arrested at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre

Correctional officers at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (December 15) intercepted suspected dangerous drugs which were concealed inside the body of a male remand person in custody.

Upon admission to the Reception Centre on December 10, the 65-year-old remand person in custody underwent X-ray body scanning and was suspected to have swallowed some drugs before admission. He was therefore put under close monitoring.

Until 9.20am today, he discharged six packs of suspected dangerous drugs wrapped in plastic sheets. The man was remanded for the offence of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
