Correctional officers stop fighting among remand persons in custody

     Correctional officers at Lo Wu Correctional Institution today (June 28) stopped a fight among five female remand persons in custody.

     At 8.33am, five female persons in custody broke out a fight inside a dayroom. Two non-local remand persons in custody used a ball pen and a plastic stool to attack three local persons in custody. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.

     Persons in custody who involved in the fight were sent to a medical officer at the centre hospital for treatment. Three local remand persons in custody sustained minor injuries on hands and back. One of them has been transferred to a public hospital for further treatment.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The five persons in custody, aged between 22 and 46, were remanded for the offences of trafficking in dangerous drugs and remaining in Hong Kong without authority after having landed unlawfully.
