Correctional officers stop assault by person in custody

     Correctional Services officers stopped a person in custody assaulting another person in custody at Hei Ling Chau Addiction Treatment Centre today (July 2).

     At 7.40am, officers on duty saw a 25-year-old male person in custody assault a 34-year-old male person in custody. The officers immediately stopped the assault and called for reinforcement.

     The victim sustained injuries on his head and back. After consultation by a medical officer at the centre hospital, he was transferred to a public hospital for further examination and treatment. The centre hospital confirmed after examination that the assailant sustained no injuries.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     Both of the above two persons in custody were sentenced to the addiction treatment centre for the offence of possession of dangerous drugs.
