Collapsed remand person in custody dies in public hospital

     A 42-year-old female remand person in custody collapsed in the centre hospital of Tai Lam Centre for Women and died in public hospital today (August 15).

     The person in custody was remanded in Tai Lam Centre for Women for an offence of possession of dangerous drugs on August 11. In view of her history of drug abuse, she was admitted to the Centre Hospital for observation and treatment on the same day. At 7.05am today, officers found her physical discomfort and having shortness of breath. During the immediate physical examination, her physical condition was further deteriorated and finally collapsed. Resuscitation was applied immediately and ambulance was summoned to send her to the public hospital for emergency rescue. She was certified dead at 8.38am.

     The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
