Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into reception centre

     Correctional officers intercepted the smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre by a person in custody yesterday (March 29).

     At 4.10pm, the officers searched the newly admitted 45-year-old male person in custody and found a small plastic straw concealed inside the collar of his jacket. The straw contained white powder suspected to be dangerous drugs.

     The Correctional Services Department (CSD) immediately referred the case to the Police for further investigation.

     A spokesperson for the CSD said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

     The person in custody was convicted for the offence of possession of dangerous drugs.
