Correctional officers stop fighting among remand persons in custody

     Correctional officers at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre stopped a fight among persons in custody today (October 29).

     At 7.37am, two male remand persons in custody aged 27 and 39 were involved in a fight in a dayroom of Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre. Officer at the scene immediately stopped the fight with the use of OC foam after repeated warning was to no avail.

     A remand person in custody who sustained eye injury was referred to a public hospital for further examination. After examination, he did not need admission to the public hospital and was sent back to Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre.

     Another remand person in custody sustained minor head injury and did not need to be sent to a public hospital after receiving examination and treatment by the medical officer in the centre hospital.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The two persons in custody were remanded for the offences of theft and possession of apparatus for taking dangerous drugs respectively.
