Correctional officers stop fighting among remand persons in custody

     ​Correctional officers at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre stopped a fight among remand persons in custody yesterday (June 22).

     At 8.14pm yesterday, five male remand persons in custody aged between 22 and 55 were found fighting inside the dormitory. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.

     During the incident, one person in custody sustained injury to his head and knee etc. while another person in custody sustained injury to his head and back etc. Both of them were required to be referred to a public hospital for further examination and treatment after the treatment provided by the institution Medical Officer. The other three persons in custody did not sustain any injury.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The five persons in custody were remanded for the offences of trafficking in a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug, loitering and possession of offensive weapons respectively.
