Correctional officers stop person in custody attacking staff

     Correctional officers at Lo Wu Correctional Institution stopped a female person in custody attacking staff today (May 29).

     ​At 12.33 noon, a 22-year-old female person in custody suddenly became emotional and attacked a correctional officer inside the cell. Officers at the scene immediately stopped her. OC foam was used to subdue the person in custody after warnings were given but in vain.

     During the incident, the officer sustained injury to her hand. After receiving examination and treatment at institution hospital, she was sent to a public hospital for further treatment. The assailant did not sustain any injury.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The assailant was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
