Take own shopping bag to Autumn Fair tomorrow

The Correctional Services Department Sports Association has called on visitors to bring their own bags to its Autumn Fair in Stanley tomorrow (November 28).

With the theme "Striving for Reintegration with Love and Care", this year's fair highlights correctional staff's shared goal and commitment to strive for community support for rehabilitated offenders and the needy, with an ultimate aim to promote a society of love, care and reciprocity.

Fifty-seven years after it was founded in 1953, the popularity of the fair endures. Arts and handicrafts, toys, rattan and wooden furniture made by prisoners, and other products will be on sale at about 40 stalls. The fair provides an opportunity for prisoners to contribute to the community, and in return, all proceeds from the sales will go to charities, including prisoners' welfare services. To support green living, purchasers are advised to take their own carry bags.

With full support of the Civil Aid Service, its force members will participate in shows like motorcycle performances, side drum performances and marching band. New activities for this year are a magic show, clown performance and face painting. Other entertainment programmes also include marching band performance, training demonstration of guard dogs, lion dance, horseback-riding and lucky draw.

The fair will run from 11am to 5pm at the football field next to Stanley Prison. People are welcome to share in the fun and contribute to charities. Admission is free.

The venue is accessible by bus routes 6, 6X, 63, 73, 260 and 973 and green minibus routes 40 and 52.
