Ma Hang Prison inmate found dead

 

     A 79-year-old inmate of Ma Hang Prison was found by staff unconscious in his bed at 6:25 am today (December 5).

     First aid was immediately given at the scene. The inmate was then sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where he was certified dead at 7.15am. Records showed that he had sustained no superficial injury but had a history of chronic diseases.

     Police have been informed of the incident and an inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.

     The inmate, surname Tang, was convicted of fraud and sentenced to imprisonment of eight months. He was admitted to Ma Hang Prison in November this year.
