Death of inmate at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre

 

     A 22-year-old male inmate at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre (LCKRC) was found semi-unconscious with his physical condition deteriorated rapidly inside the institution hospital today (December 27) at about 1.45pm. He was given immediate first aid and was subsequently sent to Princess Margaret Hospital where he was certified dead at 3.24pm.

     A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said the case has been reported to the Police. An inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.

     The inmate was recalled to LCKRC on December 22 under the Drug Addiction Treatment Centres Ordinance as he was found to have relapsed into drug abuse.
