Two inmates respectively from Stanley Prison (SP) and Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre (SLPC) attacked Correctional staff members today (June 22).
A male inmate of SP, aged 42, disobeyed the order of staff and became emotionally uncontrollable when he went through security checking this afternoon. He further took up an office litter bin nearby and threw at the staff but in vain. A staff member was slightly injured in subduing the inmate.
Separately, a Clinical Psychologist was injured when seeing an inmate at SLPC this morning. The male remand, aged 38, suddenly punched and slightly injured the psychologist when he was interviewed for psychological assessment. He was immediately subdued by correctional officers. The injured psychologist was sent to outside hospital for medical treatment.
The cases above have been reported to the Police for investigation.
The inmates, respectively charged with arson and indecent assault, were serving a 56-month sentence at SP, and being remanded in SLPC pending psychiatric, psychological and background reports.
