Death of inmate from Ma Hang Prison

    

     A 68-year-old male inmate of Ma Hang Prison reported sick at 8.52am today (July 30). He was treated at the sickbay but his condition deteriorated. He was transferred to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where he was certified dead at 9.33am.

     A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said the case has been reported to the Police.  An inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.

     The deceased was convicted of conspiracy to defraud and sentenced to a year's imprisonment on July 24, 2012.  He claimed to have had a history of chronic illness.
