An inmate attacked officers of the Correctional Services Department causing injuries to them at Tai Lam Correctional Institution this morning (November 10).
The inmate, aged 29, suddenly behaved emotionally inside the cell of the institution hospital at about 7.30am. He firstly banged on the fibre-glass bed with his fist, then suddenly dashed forward and attacked one of the officers' chest and neck with both of his fists. Another two officers stopped him immediately.
Two officers and the inmate sustained minor injuries during the incident and were given medical treatment afterwards.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The inmate was serving a 18-month sentence for remaining in Hong Kong without authority.
