Correctional officers intercept suspected dangerous drugs

     Correctional Services Officers at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre seized suspected dangerous drugs from a remanded inmate today (March 15).

      At about 12.55pm, officers during a security check intercepted six small packs of suspected dangerous drugs wrapped in plastic from a 41-year-old male inmate remanded for the offence of trafficking in a dangerous drug.

      The case was reported to the Police.

      A spokesperson for the department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

      There have been 17 seizures of dangerous drugs to date this year. Most of the seizures were made in reception centres.
