Inmate assaults officers at Lo Wu Correctional Institution

     A female inmate at Lo Wu Correctional Institution scratched two officers, causing minor injuries to them yesterday (July 4).
 
      At about 7pm, the 51-year-old female inmate turned emotional and yelled loudly inside her cell. Two on duty officers ordered her to calm down but in vain. The inmate suddenly scratched the face and the hand of the officers respectively. She was then stopped by the reinforce staff.
 
      The female inmate and the two officers were subsequently sent to the centre hospital for examination and treatment. The officers sustained minor injuries on left hand and left face respectively, while the female inmate was not injured.
 
      The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
 
      The woman was sentenced for offence of theft.
