Correctional officers stop inmates fighting in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre

     Correctional officers stopped a fight involving two inmates at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (August 28).

     At about 1.45pm, two male inmates, aged 26 and 22, quarrelled over a trivial matter before starting a fist fight. On-duty officers immediately stopped the fight and separated the two men.

     The two inmates were preliminarily examined and treated in the centre's hospital. The 26-year-old inmate who sustained injury to his face was transferred to a public hospital for further examination.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The two inmates were sentenced to jail for separate offences of theft and making a false representation to an Immigration Officer.
