A male remand inmate attacked a Correctional officer, causing him sustained minor injury at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (August 29).
During an interview inside the centre hospital at about 2pm, the 51-year-old remand inmate suddenly turned emotional and hit an officer with his walking stick. The officers at scene immediately stopped him but encountered serious resistance. The officers finally subdued the assailant with the use of OC foam.
One officer sustained minor injury on his left forearm and was treated in the centre hospital.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The assailant was serving sentence for an offence of theft.
