Correctional officers stop smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into reception centre

     Correctional officers seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from private belongings of a remand inmate in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (October 16).

     At about 5.05pm, officers found a small pack of white powder suspected to be dangerous drugs from private clothing of a 30-year-old male remand inmate.
 
     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs or unauthorised articles into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."

     The inmate was remanded for an offence of trafficking in dangerous drug.
